Stanton APTT Workshop (Video)

Visualize Academic Parent-Teacher Teams

This video captures an Academic Parent-Teacher Team (APTT) meeting at Stanton Elementary School in Washington, D.C. APTT is a high-impact family engagement strategy designed to equip parents with the information they need to be effective partners in their children’s learning. Developed by Maria Paredes in the Creighton School District (Phoenix, AZ), the model promotes data-driven, goal-oriented collaboration between families and educators. While APTT can significantly strengthen family-school partnerships, it requires strong leadership, planning, and investment of time and resources. This video highlights the core components of an APTT meeting in action.

Use this video to help leaders and teachers visualize Academic Parent-Teacher Teams in practice. It’s useful for building understanding and buy-in before implementation.
