The School Leader Tool is grounded in research and informed by learnings gathered through Flamboyan’s work with educators, school leaders, and systems in Washington, DC and nationally. This tool is outcomes-focused and less prescriptive acknowledging this approach better captures what sustainable family engagement practices look like. The School Leader Tool explicitly calls out bias, beliefs, and equity as key components to building a school-wide approach to family engagement.
Use this tool to create system-wide expectations for how school leaders create the conditions for family engagement in their communities. This tool can be used for walk throughs, pop-up visits, or annual planning conversations, ensuring that everyone knows what is expected of them and what quality family engagement looks like, sounds like, and feels like.
